Question by Biology Nerd: Christians: Are there any quotes from the Bible that say how we should deal with non-believers?
I’ve heard so many things:

Keep trying to change them
Let them rot
Try once, then let them rot

Blah, blah, blah…I’m looking for the truth.

What quotes in the Bible say how we are supposed to handle non-believers?

Best answer:

Answer by Becca S
love them. Unbelievers are just the same as Christians, except they have not accepted God’s grace. Christ died for them just as much as He died for us.
Romans 13:9
sums it up best….”Love your neighbor as yourself.”

yes
there is one about some people being one way, other people being other ways, let them be !

no point to try to convert people who aren’t “called”

and people who don’t accept you with your beliefs, well, leave them be, don’t accept them either, even brush off the very dust of that place from your shoes

Romans 14:2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.
Romans 14:3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

Romans 14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
(Let non-believers do their own thing, and let believers be believers)

(Matthew 10:14) And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
(Mark 6:11) (Luke 9:5) (Luke 10:11) (Acts 13:51)

Romans 13:9
… if there be any (more) commandments, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Jesus said “love one another”. Therefore live and let live. :P

“What quotes in the Bible say how we are supposed to handle non-believers?”

I’ll give you the summary, they involve first-degree murder.

i think instead of getting all your beliefs from the bible you should think for yourself

you know, common sense

like, leave people alone, those who try to change others repeatedly are usually jackasses

There really is no truth, only what you make of it. Truth does not truly exist and is just one opinion versus another opinion. Instead of asking others how you should deal with non-believers, ask yourself what you feel in your heart about dealing with non-believers. That and read the Bible so you can be more informed on your religion for the future. But don’t ask people. People just contain opinions and misconstrue what any book ever said.

The Bible is full of them. Try chapter one of the book of Wisdom.

Pardon me, it’s really more in chapter two. http://www.drbo.org/chapter/25002.htm

It talks about Atheists directly, the entire chapter. Please read, thanks.

Allison July 18, 2013 at 10:44 am

Okay, I’m agnostic, and I believe you should just let people be who they are and just leave them alone.
Agnostics/Atheists are proud of who they are, and they don’t need “God” in their life if they feel like they don’t need Him.

i can’t give you a direct quote but the bible says to love one another and preaches tolerance

The Golden Rule:
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Bruce July 18, 2013 at 12:49 pm

Don’t mind the non-believers. They are people. It doesn’t matter what religion they are.

Vivid Tangerine! July 18, 2013 at 12:52 pm

Leave them be and fix your own life first.
:D

Ask Me About Atheism July 18, 2013 at 1:16 pm

Yeah… Love them… I would also recommend talking to them, understanding their position, and understanding why they don’t believe the same things that you do.

taly July 18, 2013 at 2:15 pm

why are YOU dealing with them? Don’t waste your energy, save it for someone who does believe.

mexkimo July 18, 2013 at 3:06 pm

Why settle for second hand information. Seek the truth in the best place.

Happyness July 18, 2013 at 3:48 pm

Accept them, pray for them, that when the time comes they will make the right decision.

I believe God is forgiving, if you lead a good life then you won’t go to hell. Beliefs do not matter unless your a satanist.

sioux July 18, 2013 at 4:01 pm

love enemies
pray for those that use you
forgive
do not judge

robertt223 July 18, 2013 at 4:30 pm

Love them.

mister upsidedown crosses;
worship yourself much?

Chase R July 18, 2013 at 4:35 pm

isn’t it do unto other as you would have them do unto you.

something like that?

maybe thats the golden rule.

idk im a “non-believer” and personally i would prefer you leave me alone about it.

if “God” wants me he will tell me, considering he is the “almighty”

soo in my bible that i haven’t written yet it says leave the non-believers alone. then it has a little smiley face like this :-)

captainchris July 18, 2013 at 5:28 pm

You are NOT to do anything. If I’m a non believer and you try to push your holy stuff on me, we would have so trouble. DON’T PUSH YOUR CHRISTIAN STUFF ON OTHER PEOPLE, NEVER!!!!

aldaysoftwaresolutions July 18, 2013 at 6:27 pm

Romans 3:22-24

This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

Daniel July 18, 2013 at 6:59 pm

This doesn’t answer the question, but I wanted to remark that we are not non-believers. We refuse to believe. We refuse to accept guilt for being human and possessing knowledge. We refuse to believe that the holiest act of the human body is evil. We refuse to surrender our rational thought. Even by your code, God would not have given us all that he has and then refused us the use of it. Check your premises.

Kim W July 18, 2013 at 7:51 pm

Love thy neighbor. My prayer when I was young was to see Christs face.( I received an answer, look at your neighbor.) If we have the love of Christ in us then we will see Christ in the beggar and help him, the hungry and feed him, the naked and clothe him.

snowshoerabbit13 July 18, 2013 at 8:32 pm

i don’t especially want to be “handled” . . it sounds creepy.

oh5006 July 18, 2013 at 9:13 pm

of course. well i can’t give you the exact chapter and verse. From what i know you can be their friend and interact and reach out to them but don’t conform into their ways

mo0ink July 18, 2013 at 10:09 pm

love them too

Casey July 18, 2013 at 10:15 pm

not that im aware of right off the top of my head, but that’s a really good question. i think that we are just supposed to try and minister to them, but you cant force them to change. The Dare2Share Ministry company, has a great video series called GOSPEL. we’ve been watching this series during my youth group every sunday night and it brings together all different types of believers (an agnostic, atheist, ministers child, city girl, Christian, a wicken) and this pastor, his name is greg, basically takes them on a journey through the bible. its a really great series on dealing with people that have other beliefs (it gives you a good idea of what they think too) and it has a great ending because one of the non-Christians converts to Christianity in the end.
Hope this sort of helps!

somatist July 18, 2013 at 10:31 pm

This is in the Contemporary English Version and while these verses mostly refer to those considering marriage look at what they say.

2Co 6:14 Stay away from people who are not followers of the Lord! Can someone who is good get along with someone who is evil? Are light and darkness the same?
2Co 6:15 Is Christ a friend of Satan? Can people who follow the Lord have anything in common with those who don’t?

Here’s King James.

2Co 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
2Co 6:15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

mike h July 18, 2013 at 11:18 pm

the Bible tells us to Love everyone
thats pretty basic
if you wanna change people, love them, set an example, dont chastise and condemn them, thats just ignorant
